Venezuelan Arepas
(Makes 4 arepas approx.)
Ingredients:
- 400 ml. water
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 200 grams Harina P.A.N.
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp. corn oil
- 70 grams Harina P.A.N. (use a little more if the dough is still too wet)
Directions:
Mix everything well and let stand for 5 mins
Divide into 4 equal parts (175-180 gr. approx. for each arepa)
Make arepas about 10-12 cm in diameter and 1-2 cm thick
We always cook them in a budare (if you don't have one you can use a large non-stick pan). Let each side cook well until it's toasted (about 10 min each). Please do NOT use the oven as it makes the arepas extremely hard.
Fill them with whatever you like! You could try making some of our vegan cheeses!
